Fundraising at Filby Primary School (PTA)

Welcome!

The PTA would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and give you an idea of the type of things we do for our wonderful school community.  We hope you would like to support us and get involved in our various fundraising activities. 

Firstly, let us explain what our overarching aim is. Simply put, we want to assist the school in providing opportunities, equipment and activities which enhance the experiences of children who attend our nursery and school. Additionally, when we can, we organise opportunities for the wider school community to get together. 

Our fundraising team is made up of volunteer parents and staff and we are supported by a wider group of fantastic volunteers who help at fundraising events organised throughout the year. 

We know, in these difficult times, how important fundraising is to help our school provide those little extras. To give you an idea of what we do, here is a list of the type of things we have supported over the last few years:

• Subsidising transport costs for school trips
• Playground equipment
• Musical instruments
• Prizes for school-led competitions
• Books for the school library
• Library storage
• Storage for play equipment 

To help school provide those all important extra treats for the children, we have organised: bake sales, raffles, book fairs, refreshments at school functions, summer events, printed tea towels and helped to arrange sponsored events to name but a few. 

We try to meet up as often as we can - either at school, in the local pub or even in the kitchen belonging to one of our brilliant PTA members - to plan fundraising events usually over a pot of tea or two and we often have cake! We communicate with our wider volunteering team via a What's App group. Since we are all busy people, our fantastic group of volunteers help out as and when they can and we appreciate their support. We are a friendly and welcoming group, always keen to hear from anyone who may have some time, now and again, to lend us a hand. There are plenty of ways to get involved and any help is gratefully received. Do contact the school office who can put you in touch with one of us -  we will gladly answer any questions you may have and love to hear new ideas for fundraising.

Not only do we raise funds for the school but we also come together to support community events such as helping village groups organise a Christmas party for local children and other initiatives.
