At Filby Primary School we aim to inspire our children through our art curriculum. Our approach enthuses children and encourages them to be imaginative, aspirational, reflective, bold and resilient. We encourage pupils to express themselves in different ways and to have a respectful and responsible attitude towards their work and that of others, promoting inclusivity. Through the use of sketchbooks, exhibitions and displays, the children are given the opportunity to showcase and care for their work; experiencing pride in their creative achievements and the achievements of others. 

Through carefully planned lessons, children experience a broad range of art, craft and design, through observation, exploration and discussion. Knowledge of artists, techniques and concepts, along with the development of skills, are built on year, by year as outlined in our progression documents, ensuring consistency, challenge and balance beginning in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
