The Woodpeckers Page
(Classes 3 & 4)
The Newtons are aged 7, 8 and 9 and are taught by Mrs Yassin. They are supported by Mrs Brown and Mrs Newson.
The curriculum is taught through a topic based approach in a fun and supportive environment, where each child is valued. We want to develop a love for learning and want all children to enjoy school and be proud of their achievements and progress as they begin their journey in Key Stage 2.
PE is taught on a Wednesday by Mrs Yassin and on a Thursday by the Community Sports Foundation.
Music is taught by Mrs O'Beaney on Thursday.

Our artist this term is L.S.Lowry. We have produced some fantastic paintings following his style!
On Friday 10th June, the children were very proud to invite their parents into the school hall to view the wide range of artefacts they had produced for their Viking Museum. Lots of hard work and creativity was on display and the children were so pleased to have the opportunity to share this with everyone. Well done Woodpeckers! Miss Young is very proud of all your efforts! Fantastic Viking Museum!
VIKING HELMETS Woodpeckers had lots of fun experimenting with the paper mache technique to produce their Viking helmets. A variety of design and technology skills were grasped by all and each child produced their own unique creation!
A toothy afternoon!
On Friday April 29th 2016, a dental hygeinist came to our class to tell us all about looking after our teeth and showed us how to clean them properly.
We placed a special sweet containing disclosing dye inside our mouths, which showed us where the plaque was on our teeth! Some of us had patches of pink which indicated new and fresh plaque. Some of us had little blue areas which showed older plaque! The sweet tasted like berries and made our tongues change colour too! We cleaned our teeth in a circular fashion for 2 minutes before rinsing. Our teeth and mouths felt very clean and fresh after all that!!
We learned some very important facts!
We listened carefully and followed instructions!
We had lots of fun!
What a great afternoon!
Woodpeckers had a fantastic visit to Norwich Castle on Tuesday 19th April for a Viking Day. It was entitled 'How to train your Dragon.'
We had such a great day learning so many things about the Vikings and it was a brilliant way to start our topic.
We took part in a drama performance with a storyteller, handled lots of artefacts with a trader and made brooches with a craftsperson. Fortunately we also had a little time to explore the gallery and had the opportunity to try on Viking costumes and pose in the longship.
LOTS OF LEARNING!
INTERACTIVE AND FUN!
